History

John Davis began his career playing in multiple bands in the Knoxville area until he formed his own band Superdrag.

Superdrag had immediate success with their debut album in 1996 which lead to 4 more albums and much touring.

By 2002 the touring and fast living had taken their toll on Davis. His alcohol addiction was taking its toll.

One night as Davis was driving, Davis pulled his truck over to pray, feeling that he had finally hit rock-bottom. He described the experience as life-changing, as he stated he felt a definite answer to his prayer. Davis gave up alcohol at that moment, and turned his life to Christianity.

He finished one last album, Last Call For Vitriol that had indications of John's conversion with pleading songs of faith and longing. Upon completion of touring for Last Call, the band disbanded.

Davis released his first solo album self-titled: John Davis The album is a combination of his signature pop melodies and a devout faith in God. Davis recorded his second solo album, Arigato!, which released in 2007.

In 2008 John Davis announced that Superdrag would reunite and they released their fith studio album, Industry Giants in March of 2009. Reviews of the album indicate that "Seven years later, there's no denying who is inspiring Davis's heady mixture of glammy garage rock and shoegazer pop."
